10 Clean Reggaeton Songs

Kirsten | Posted February 20, 2022 | Updated February 27, 2024

Y’all, this is when I’m glad no one reads these posts.  :p  Honestly, school has just been piling on the work for me.  :’)  That’s my only excuse, so I’ll try to do better. (⎺n⎺)b  The next post should be easier, so I’m gonna try and get it out within two months.  Dang, that sounds so long.  I swear it’s the best I can do! *sobbing*  Anyway, here is what y’all have been waiting for: 10 Clean Reggaeton Songs.

For those of you wondering what reggaeton is as a genre, it’s essentially a remix of classic reggae fused with a Latin style.  You can find a more detailed explanation in this article, “Reggaeton Music Roots and Characteristics.”  While I’ve been getting into this genre lately, I’m not even going to self-proclaim myself as an expert in it so feel free to shoot me any constructive comments if I get things wrong.  Also, I don’t speak Spanish or Portuguese so if I’m wrong about song lyrics feel free to let me know.

#1  J Balvin, Tainy - “Agua

The music video has a silly energy that suits the song.  Although this song is meant for kids, coming from The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, it has a good bass for dancing which would make it enjoyable for adults too.  I like playing this at summer parties since it has a very refreshing sound.  Besides, other than mentioning bikinis, the song is squeaky clean.  I’m going to include lyric videos or websites for all the songs so you can check the translations for yourself.

#2  SANTI - “Nada (Sunflower Remix)

This song is a reggaeton cover of Post Malone & Swae Lee’s “Sunflower.”  This song is a chill mix of R’n’B and hip hop, just like the original.   It’s so calming and gives me lo-fi vibes, so if you like lo-fi you might prefer this.  The lyrics for the song can be found in the description of the music video, and if you put it through Spanish-to-English Google Translate like I did, the lyrics come out clean.

#3  Black Eyed Peas (ft. J Balvin) - “Ritmo” [clean edit]

This song was introduced to me when I was out exercising with friends.  It's great for sports because it's repetitive and has a clear beat.  I really enjoy the English parts; the Black Eyed Peas members have unique voices that I like the sound of.  Besides that, it's easy to sing along to even if you only speak English.  This song is a clean edit since there is a swear word in it.  At 2:09 in the lyric video you can see what was edited out if you want to.

#4  J Balvin, Willy William - “Mi Gente

This song is the one that inspired the creation of this post.  My friend's little sister wanted to listen to reggaeton after seeing this song in Trolls World Tour, but she couldn't find any clean songs.  Anyway, I love everything about how the song was put together.  It came out so cool.  Are there any Fast & Furious fans reading this?  Has this song been used in any of the movies?  If not, it definitely should be.

#5  Loco Escrito - “Mamacita

This song is another one to add to the summer party playlist.  Rather than being refreshing, I would describe this song as summer crush (if that's even an applicable label for a song).  It's full of the sunshine and romantic dancing vibes.  The lyrics are in the subtitles, and if you put them through Spanish-to-English Google Translate, they appear clean.  There is some kissing and flirty dancing in the music video to be aware of.

#6  Fly Project - “Millerba

To be honest, I don't have much to say for this one.  The music video isn't clean, but if you hop on there and put the subtitled lyrics through Spanish-to-English Google Translate, they come out as meme-y as the song sounds.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

#7  Daddy Yankee - “Limbo

Daddy Yankee does not have a ton of clean music, but this one is good.  I loved this song as a kid.  Whenever I was down, I would turn on this song and imagine I was at a pool party.  Also, I just have to say I like how aggressively the song is delivered considering it's meant to have happy vibes.

#8  Ir Sais, Kilate Tesla - “Juntos

The girls wear dresses that are quite short in the music video, but other than that, it’s clean.  I put the lyrics through Google Translate and they don’t really make sense, but are supposedly clean.  This love song makes me want to sing along and pretend I’m the main character of a movie.  Or maybe dance in the rain.

#9  Luis Fonsi, Myke Towers - “Bésame

Luis Fonsi & Myke Towers cracking up and fist bumping in an interview

This song is perfect for dancing even though it’s less hype than a lot of the other reggaeton songs.  The vocals are so catchy & I like Myke Towers’ voice.  Luis Fonsi, the singer of “Despacito,” is also in this song.  Anyway, the song mentions “making love,” “kissing,” “friends with benefits,” and, I recently was informed by a commenter that there is a lyric 'slangly mispronounced' to mean "one more night with you."  Otherwise, it’s clean.  I put it through Google Translate, but there’s also a lyric video.

Also, thank you to the commenter for the extra info.  I'm sorry I didn't see your comment for a year, but I promise my comment notifications have been fixed now!  (シ; _;)シ

#10  Jennifer Lopez, Rauw Alejandro - “Cambia el Paso” [radio edit]

I admit the cover picture for the audio isn’t the most modest, but this was the best I could do.  Jennifer Lopez is in this, which is exciting.  I just finished watching the movie Marry Me (which is 13+ be warned),  and it’s full of lots of great Latin songs if you want more than this list has to offer.  What I like about this song is that while it’s somewhat reggaeton, it’s also somewhat Western pop.  The combination makes it more enjoyable for a larger audience & adds an international flavor.  The audio I included is a radio edit because there’s swearing in the original, which you’ll see if you check the lyric video.  If you want to check the lyrics for yourself though, the lyric video is included below.

As I already announced in the previous post, “10 Clean Movies I watched This Summer,” the post after this one is going to be about clean anime fanart you can use as your device wallpaper.  I’m so excited for this one because I won’t have to analyze as much for it!  Haha.  I went down a rabbit-hole of reggaeton and compiled a playlist of like 50 songs, so if you ever want another post with reggaeton recommendations just let me know!  Feel free to also comment any songs you would like me to check out and maybe include in a future post. :)
