10 Clean Kpop Songs You Probably Haven't Heard

Kirsten | June 25, 2022

This is another post I wrote in the car. :[ I'm in Michigan now! Anyway, I'm kind of just cranking out posts since my ACT is in three weeks and I'm probably going to take a hiatus soon to focus on that. To be honest, working on my blog is just my excuse to avoid studying right now. :\ Don't follow my example, guys. I'm a bad influence. 😔

Since this post is about Kpop songs y'all probably haven't heard, I wanna make a bet with you guys. We are not going to be betting money though, because I don't want to go broke. (ᴗ _ᴗ ;) I'm just going to bet that none of you will know more than three songs on this list. Let's see how many people can win this--I'm curious. (╯✧∇✧)╯ There will be a google form at the end of the post you can fill out to say how many songs you recognized.

For each song, the top attachment is a link to the song lyrics and the bottom attachment is a link to either the song's music video or audio.

#1 Pentagon - “10s and

This song does a good job of balance. The beat drops are catchy, but the rest of the song isn't just filler. Every time I listen to this song, it feels like I'm being guided by each part to what comes next. No part of the song seems like an awkward add-on, which is part of what makes a good song--in my opinion. Also, I love the combination of nostalgia and EDM "10s and" has to offer. This song is so underrated, guys.

#2 Super Junior, Leslie Grace - Lo Siento

If I had to put my money on a song being recognized in this post, I would choose this one. "Lo Siento" is a Kpop-Latin fusion performed by the ✨popular✨ group Super Junior, so… What's not to love? This song gives me celebrity romance and intrigue vibes based on the lyrics, but the composition is more upbeat. It's perfect for partying so it's my go-to when my non-Kpop friends ask me to put some on.

The music video isn't totally appropriate, so I just attached the audio instead.

#3 SOYOU - “Gotta Go

This song fits my sister perfectly. It's full of life and confidence. If she ever makes an appearance on this blog, y'all will know what I mean.

Although this song is less Latin than"Lo Siento," it still gives a faint impression that it's a pop-Latin fusion. Whatever it is down at its core, "Gotta Go" is a hype song and confidence booster for sure. Blast this when you want to feel cool and famous. :P This music video also had some short outfits, suggestive dancing, and so on, so I attached a link to Spotify instead.

#4 Block B - “Shall We Dance

TBH, this MV has 31 million views, so there should be a handful of people that recognize this. Although Zico is popular, I feel like Block B is so overlooked in the Kpop community. This song is hard to describe. If I had to, I would say it's a Latin-hip hop fusion. Pro tip: Kpop loves their Latin music. Anyway, "Shall We Dance" is cool, hip, and groovy. It just is.

#5 Ailee - “Blue Spring

This ballad is so emotional and has such amazing vocals, so I've always been amazed at its lack of popularity. If I had to guess the reason, it's probably because this is an OST for Dunia: Into a New World, which is a unique variety show that lacked in popularity despite it's great reviews (in my opinion). This song could literally be a Disney OST, though. It deserves a spot in the next Disney Princess movie, I swear.

#6 Ong Seong Wu - “We Belong

This song has a more minimalistic composition. It's a love song heavy on the guitar and clap beats, so... It relies on Ong Seong Wu's voice to add flavor, which is a risky move that pays off in this case. "We Belong" gives off a Western pop feel that will probably make it popular with people who aren't a fan of mainstream Kpop.

#7 A.C.E - Goblin (Favorite Boys)

"Goblin" is basically a spooky-sounding hype song. If you like hype songs and you like Halloween, then this song is for you, I guess. This song is really good, for a group under a company I don't recognize. I feel like only companies like the big three (JYP, YG, and SM) get the unique and catchy songs. I looked into Swing Entertainment, which managaes A.C.E, and it turns out they also manage(d) Wanna One, IZ*ONE, and Kep1er. Now the quality of A.C.E's music makes more sense, but it's underrated-ness still doesn't. :[

In my opinion, the music video showed too much skin so I didn't attach it.

#8 N.Flying - “Rooftop

N.Flying is a band, but Kpop is an umbrella term that includes almost every genre of Korean music, so they are certainly not going to be left out. This song gives me nostalgia for the summer, but honestly, most songs give me nostalgia. The chorus is so catchy, if this doesn't make it into a broadway play, it should at least play in the end credits of a K-Drama.

#9 WOODZ - “BUMP BUMP

I feel like most of WOODZ's songs would fit into the Western Pop scene based on their composition. This song is one I blast in the morning so that it will play in my head for the rest of the day and I can bop to it in the halls at school. Although WOODZ is not part of a rock band, this song kinda makes it sound like he is. :D

It's hard to be a solo artist in the Kpop scene, but WOODZ is doing a great job. The music video for this song proves it, with WOODZ's chemistry with the extras bringing it to life.

#10 Jo Yuri - “Glassy

This song is a beautiful R&B-pop fusion, in my opinion. Maybe it's just pop, but either way, it's great to chill to. The lyric video for this song is so pretty and really suits the song, so I recommend you check it out. I've never heard of Jo Yuri, but she's really talented so I'm guessing she used to be part of a group like Momoland. Update: She's a former member of IZ*ONE. :)

I will say that some of Yuri's dresses were pretty short in the MV.

Here I have attached a google form you can fill out to say how many songs you recognized in this post and which they were. Even if you recognized no songs, I'd like it if you filled the form out. In fact, that's better because the whole idea of this post was for you to not know the songs I'm recommending. ( ・V・人)

Below the form are two charts. One records the number of people that recognized no songs, 1 song, 2 songs, etc. The other records the amount each song on my post was recognized. So far, they're just filled out as examples but I'll update them to be accurate once this post gets some responses.
